DOE’s certified PV-only residential rates are $2.78 per watt (2024 USD) at the low (MSP) and $2.95 per watt (2024 USD) typical (MMP). There is no certified high dollars-per-watt figure.
Source year. Based on the same DOE / NREL Q1 2025 photovoltaic benchmark, reported in 2024 dollars.
Geographic scope. United States national modelled benchmark.
Model scope. Unit-rate page only. It does not restate an 8 kW project total except as a link to the installation page.
Important limitation. A dollars-per-watt rate is not an installer quote, and it is not a 2026 market price.
