User-supplied unit rates — not UK construction benchmarks.

Capacity × unit rate
Estimate from system size (for example kW) and a unit rate you supply (for example per kW).
You supply area or capacity and a unit rate. Display currency follows the pilot locale. US DOE/REMDB tables are not treated as local prices.
Method
This page multiplies a system size you already know (for example kilowatts) by a rate you already have (for example £/kW). It is not a UK solar or boiler price list.
Keep size and rate in matching units. Leave waste at 0 unless you are adding a known oversize allowance. Do not paste US dollars-per-watt into this field and treat the pounds output as a converted UK bid.
Base = size × unit rate. Optional waste multiplies size first. Optional regional factor multiplies the money total.
8 kW at 150 per kW, no waste
Capacity 8, rate 150, waste 0, regional factor 1. Adjusted size 8. Total 1,200 in this locale’s currency format.
8 × (1 + 0) × 150 × 1 = £1,200.00
Result
The result is size × (1 + waste) × rate × regional factor. GBP is the display currency for this locale, not evidence that the rate is a British market median.
Use it when an installer already quoted a per-kW figure and you want the product. For US national PV benchmarks, use the certified English solar pages instead.
Assumptions
- No local building-code or incentive database is applied.
- Keep capacity and rate units consistent (kW with £/kW).
- Waste or regional multipliers are optional user factors, not local law.
Questions
Can I convert the US solar page into pounds here?
No. Type only a rate you already have. The certified US solar totals stay in 2024 USD on their own pages.
Why is waste usually zero?
Capacity is rarely wasted like flooring. Leave waste at 0 unless you have a documented oversize allowance.
Limitations
- Not a UK incentive or MCS quote.
- No exchange rate is applied to US solar pages.
- A regional factor you type is not a published UK location index.
No MCS or UK government tariff is applied. US DOE 2024 $/W figures are not imported or converted.
